Joining a pallet network has resulted in expansion for one Middlesex firm as it adds UK pallet distribution to its international full-service logistics offer.
LHR Global Logistics Ltd became a member of Fortec Distribution Network in May in the middle of the UK lockdown. Four months on and the company – which operates from a 15k sq ft warehouse near Heathrow and has warehouses across the world – has added overnight distribution to their already substantial portfolio of services, and has been able to bring the majority of its local workforce back from furlough.
Ian Godfrey, director of LHR Global Logistics Ltd said:
“Joining Fortec Distribution Network is the final piece in the puzzle for us as a company. We’ve been able to get our team back up and running seven days a week, and it means we can now provide the broadest range of logistical service solutions available – just as businesses are picking themselves back up and shipping again.
“We had been wanting to add pallet deliveries as an additional in-house offering for some time, but COVID-19 delayed us by a few months. We could either move forward with our plans or not, but we’re really pleased we progressed when we did. It was the right time for us and we are now delivering on all of our targets.”
With additional offices in Portugal and Hong Kong, with Madrid opening early 2021, LHR Global’s main business is global time critical transport, with international customers making up 98% of its client base. LHR Global Logistics Ltd – which was founded in 2010 – had previously outsourced smaller shipments and overnight consignments to external companies. Ian says he intends to maximise existing national and international relationships with companies and airlines, and focus on new and emerging businesses within the Slough, Uxbridge and Heathrow postcodes to aid future growth.
“There is a buoyant market out there as industries respond to the current climate, with innovative new businesses starting up,” added Ian. “The pallet industry is definitely thriving again. Adding this new area of distribution to our company puts us in an even stronger position to react and respond.”
Adrian Bradley, Managing Director of Fortec Distribution Network, says LHR Global Logistics Ltd’s strong reputation, substantial fleet and strategically placed offices in the UK and around the world is beneficial for all parties.
“This is a company that is going from strength to strength,” said Adrian. “They are very focused on collaboration and relationships too, so our other network members are already gaining from their international and specialist links. The Fortec team will work with them to support and drive these opportunities even further forward.”
